It’s not always easy to start a conversation with a young person who’s struggling. For those who want to help but aren’t sure how, there’s De Checkers. A free online tool developed by MIND Us. It helps adults learn how to support young people with early signs of mental distress: by listening, asking gentle questions, and most of all, being present. @ease contributed to the content of the modules, bringing in years of experience in peer support, communication with young people, and meaningful conversation techniques.
On the De Checkers website, you’ll discover what you can do as a parent, neighbor, sports coach, mentor, or friend. In three short modules, you’ll learn:
- How do you recognize when someone is not feeling well?
- How do you be a good conversationalist?
- How do you help someone?
You’ll practice with practical situations, watch videos, and immediately see if you can apply the knowledge in practice. Everything is presented in clear language and at your own pace.
