Volunteering at @ease

@ease couldn’t exist without volunteers like you. That’s why we make sure you feel at home and that your work is fun, meaningful, and sometimes even a good challenge. Volunteering can be intense, so we check in regularly to see how you’re doing.

Training

Prior to starting as a volunteer, you will complete a two-day training programme. This includes learning our methodology, practising conversation scenarios, and connecting with fellow volunteers and professionals. Additional training sessions are offered on specific topics such as suicide prevention, sexual exploitation, and eating disorders.

Accompaniment

You’ll get support from experienced professionals — like psychologists or youth workers. They’re there during opening hours to coach you and have your back. When you talk to a young person, you’ll check in with them during and after the conversation. They’ll think along with you, give tips, or join the conversation if needed. If the chat was intense, someone from @ease will check how you’re feeling and offer extra support if you need it.

Talking together

As a conversation volunteer, you talk with the young people who visit us. You always do this together with another volunteer. If you’re unsure or the topic is difficult, there’s always someone by your side to help guide the conversation. So you’re never alone.

Nice community

You’ll be part of a warm, safe community where everyone is welcome. It’s not just about helping others, you can also talk about your own stuff if you need to. We treat each other with respect and trust. There are social activities you can join, but only if you feel like it.

Confidential information

As a volunteer, you’ll talk to people who might be sharing their struggles for the very first time. That takes a lot of trust. So it’s super important that what’s said never leaves @ease. You only talk about it with other volunteers or professionals at your location — that’s how we keep things safe and respectful.
