@ease Privacy Policy

Why we collect data

We only ask for your info when it’s really needed. For example:

  • So we can reach out, like when you ask us something via the contact form.
  • If you chat with us
  • To improve our website

What kind of data do we collect?

It depends on what you’re doing on our site. Sometimes we collect things like:

  • Your name or nickname
  • Your email adress
  • Your IP address (that’s the address of your internet connection)

Chatting at @ease

You can chat anonymously with our volunteers. Your IP address is hidden from us, and you don’t need to use your real name, a nickname is fine. The content of the conversation is always confidential.

Information is only shared with third parties in rare, exceptional situations. For example:

  • If you give us permission yourself (for example, if you need immediate help)
  • If there are clear indications that you present an acute risk to others, we are legally obligated to involve emergency services.

Maybe you’ll mention your name, where you live, or something else personal in the chat. We always delete that right after the chat ends. We do keep the rest of the chat for five years — so we can learn more about how @ease helps young people.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies:

  • Functional cookies help the website run smoothly.
  • Analytics cookies show us which pages people visit. They’re anonymous and can’t be linked to you.
  • Tracking or marketing cookies ensure that you see ads related to @ease. We only use these cookies if you have given your consent.

Don’t want cookies? No problem, you can still use our website.

Sometimes you’ll see videos or posts from YouTube or Instagram on our site. These platforms might place cookies or collect info, that’s something we can’t control. Want to know more? Check their privacy rules.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to check how many people visit our site and what they click on. That way, we can make the site better and reach more young people. Everything is anonymous.

What law is this based on?

We only process your data if there is a legal basis for it:

  • You have given your consent for this.
  • It’s necessary to send you a response (for example, via the contact form).
  • We have a good reason to use the data, like making our website better.

How long do we keep your info?

We only keep your info as long as we need it. After that, we delete it.

Data transfer outside Europe

Sometimes we use tools from companies like Google or Meta (Instagram and Facebook), which are based outside Europe. That means your data might be stored outside the EU.

We are aware that this has raised concerns since the European Court of Justice ruling in 2020 (Schrems II). We closely monitor developments and do our best to handle your data safely and responsibly.

Your rights

You are entitled to request access to, rectification, or erasure of your personal data.

Want to use one of these rights? Just send an email to communicatie@ease.nl. We might ask you to confirm who you are — just to be sure it’s really you.
